(The Christmas Party)

We started with Christmas decorations from 10:00. Koala room was decorated with shining tinsel. I looked for a model who was taken a picture with a stuffed doll Santa Claus. 23 adorable children became model. What cute children they are! (^ε^)-☆!! It took an hour to shoot.

Angie san from America told us "What is a Christmas?" and "How do you spend a Christmas day?" in English and Japanese. She showed us a picture book about Christmas. She prepared Japanese story in the Roman alphabet. That must be tough work for her. Thank you very much.

Children were waiting for a present from Santa Claus. They were happy to hug, kiss and handshake with a stuffed doll Santa Claus. How cute their behaviors were!

Happy Birthday in December;

* Kojima Yuuki 2 years old, Imaki Yukari 1 year old, Maki Daiki 1 year old. Three of you, Happy Birthday to you. We sang a song "Happy Birthday to you!" (-^〇^-)

Kurata san's second daughter 38 days after her birth named Runo was introduced to us. How pretty baby she is! We were waiting for you, Runo chan. Happy Birthday to you.

Christmas party attendances were 7 pairs of Japanese mother and child and 17 pairs of foreigners and including guests were 50 people. Awesome!!

Philippine style spaghetti cooked by Marina san, Apples grew in Takamori Nagano from Yonezawa and snacks from guest were arranged on the table. We enjoyed delicious foods. Thank you for your donation.

(What is Thailand like?)

http//www.kohphiphi.jp/

It is a cold rain today while yesterday was warm. I was anxious about participating number. Gathered 5 pairs of Japanese mother and child and 9 pairs of foreigner.

The lecturer was Koyama Supannee san from Thailand. She wore dark blue Thai traditional costume. That dress looked very good on her slender figure. ☆彡

* Her maiden name is Supannee Wongwasupongsa. A Chinese Thai has a long name and native Thai has a short surname.

* She drew a map of Southeast Asia include Japan and asked where Thailand is.

* "Hello" in Thai is "Sawasdee ka (for woman), Sawasdee krab (for man)" and "Thank you" in Thai is "Khobkhun ka (woman), Khobkhun krab (men)".

* We put our hands together and bowed saying "Sawasdee ka".

* Bangkok is the capital of Thailand. The flood caused extensive damage to Bangkok area as you see at TV. Someone bought a boat for his transportation. Supannee san's parents house locate in Nakhon Pathom, one hour by car from Bangkok. They are safe.

* Thai cooking is popular in Japan. The name of "Kapao" put sunny-side up egg on it is basic cooking. "Tottoman" made use of fish cake. This is delicious. There is Thai restaurant near here named "PHI PHI" www.kohphiphi.jp/

* Supannee san cooked "Namufulick". She put Namufulick on sliced cucumber and crackers and served one by one saying " Please try this. It is hot." We enjoyed Thai food. I gave popcorn to children instead of hot one.

* Thai cooking has a variety of soups. People like to drink a different soup every day. A famous soup is Tamyankun.

* Thai's banana is a small size and sweet, so we use it for baby food.

* Thailand is a Buddhist country that has image of seriousness and formal, on the other hand, there are a lot of "NEW HALF" who is disguised in woman's clothes. It is interesting in that the image of seriousness and formal versus nonsense and informal coexist in Thai people. ・・・That must be Thai culture.

* Supannee san, Do you have a New half friend? ・・・Yes, I have. There are a lot of boys to be New half. The famous town is Pathaya.

* When did New half appear? ・・・I saw them since I was a child. They are not allow to marry by law.

* Thai hospital can do a course of treatment. Caesarean operation is popular in Thailand. A married couple decide the date and wife delivers baby by caesarean operation. A family has an average 2~3 children.

* A licensed midwife gets on an ambulance with the emergency services. There is an enormous traffic jam in Thailand, so a pregnant woman sometimes start to deliver in a car. She is given birth to a baby by a midwife.

* Do you know why parents give gold to their baby when he was born in Asian countries except Japan? ・・・We made a guess and said our opinions.

* A souvenir from Thailand "A small boat carry a lot of vegetables and fruits"; It calls "Floating market". You can see it in Damunansadoagu river now.

* A purse made in Thai silk; There are many Thai silk products as a souvenir.

* A former Koala member Inoue Nenu san made a paper crane handicraft 16 years ago. ・・・Thai people are good with their hands. They like to make things by paper or Banana leaves.

* Ten years ago, there was no fare meter in Thai taxi.・・・Now, it has. But there is no automatic door in taxi. Only Japanese taxi has!!

Koyama Supannee san, Thank you very much. We could understand your country. We wish to visit your country. It is likely that young people throughout the world don't wear their traditional costume. Same as Thai.
Thank you, and Khobkun ka ♥

(Prepare for an earthquake)

The event of "Prepare for an earthquake. Let's learn from East Japan great earthquake disaster." took place at Nakahara Ward office from 10:00am on Oct. 1 Saturday. Nakahara fire station officer explained about disaster prevention measures. ”There are 145 fire fighters and 21 fire engines in Nakahara fire station. As we might not rescue all of you soon, you should prepare 3 day’s foods for survival. The powder milk for baby is also good nutrition for adult." A fire station officer spoke in easy Japanese for foreigners. English explanation and pictures showed by the power point. Koala 12 foreign family members 30 people participated. I gave a pen and paper to Koala children to waste their time. But some of them rose voice and wandered around.

After the lecture, we went out and rode a special car which provides tremor of earthquake. It gave us seismic intensity 5 and then 7 as same as devastated area. One child had fun at the shaking car and the others screamed with fright. We were no longer standing up and sat down. We gained experience by practice.

After the event, we moved to the square to have our lunch. Even 3 years old children got their lunch boxes, they ate "obento " by their hands. We enjoyed picnic. Thank you for everything hosted by INTEX group and Nakahara ward office.

2011(Ottawa itinerary: Women's Worlds 2011)

オタワ大学学長Mr. Allan Rockの挨拶;

Feminist広場のメッセージコーナーで私は「JAPAN Thank you for caring about us. We are all right. ARIGATOU!」

Inclusions,Exclusions, and Seclusions: Living in a globalized world"から派生した4つのテーマで話し合われる。

*17:00~18:30 Grassroots Grandmothers' Circle

5、Assimilating Foreign Wives of Japanese Men:The story of Koala, its challenges and the way forward - Supporting foreign women in Japan is my volunteerism.
Etsuko Yonezawa - Internatinal Parents and Infants cross cultural group KOALA, Japan

*19:00~23:30 Closing Party - Tabaret Lawn (大学内の芝生が会場)

On issues ranging from colonialism to patriarchy to capitalism, each of these women will share perspectives borne of personal experiences and professional expertise. Congress participants will be provoked and inspired to continue conversing under this theme throughout the day.

Be it economic oppression, restricted access to positions of power or to power itself, or limited opportunities for educational and labour force advancement, women across the planet are dismantling the ceilings-glass and otherwise-that serve to maintain women's inequality. (July 6) Plenary: Breaking Barriers

Barriers, Borders, Boundaries. So many lines continue to divide us, which is ironic considering globalization is intended to bring us closer together. While globalization has done a great deal to transform both the notion and practical realities of borders, panellists will share insights on how women are leading the charge for a redefining of boundaries-political, geo-political,economic, sexusal/gender, academic - in ways that promote women's equality, leadership and security.
